Wine down in VA at CrossKeys Vineyard

Who doesn’t love to spend a Sunday at a Vineyard, especially when it’s on vacations. Read more to find out all about CrossKeys Vineyard in Virginia.

This post is a little late and I do apologize. This car accident really has slowed me down in many ways making my  small weekend trip in the beginning of January much needed. AND even though I wore a neck brace, sat in the car with a pillow, and couldn’t move by the end of each day, I was happy to explore new spots and see family since they were on the way. So here are some highlights of my trip and places you need to stop at.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  1. My first car trip with my boyfriend of over 4+ hours. I think everyone should take a nice road trip like this for a weekend and just enjoy each others company, talk, regroup and just have some fun!
  2. We had this trip planned prior my accident so we also couldn’t cancel since we were going to go learn about a vacation package with GreenBlueVacations. If someone likes timeshares, their program seems amazing. Their spaces are great, we stayed in a luxury YURT! This was so cool, I kind of wish we stayed an extra night too.
  3. ONE THING TO KNOW – ANTIQUE SHOPPING GOLD MINE!! Not even kidding, we weren’t even prepared for all the antique shops down there that now we want to go back and just hit all of them with CASH. Yes it is important to have cash because you most likely will get a better deal!
  4. Two spots you need to also hit are Luray Caverns & Monticello. The caverns are an unbelievable nature made thing to see and walk through. Just make sure to allocate at least a hour for this activity and try to buy tickets prior. Monticello, I’d recommend giving yourself a day especially if you area history buff. There’s so much to see and learn that we didn’t have enough time to do it all but we are so happy we did squeeze it in. Also this is another spot to buy your tickets on-line for a cheaper price. Also, the food in their organic cafe was amazing!
  5. Lastly was our relaxing late afternoon at CrossKeys Vineyard, with we LOVED! From the rolling hills, views of the Blue Ridge Mountain and just peaceful vibes this is a place to stop at and enjoy! I can only imagine when it’s Spring and Summer too, with all the outdoor seating.

So it’s safe to say after a busy first two days stopping at the beautiful CrossKeys Vineyard was the perfect way to end the trip. Their blends, Reds, Whites and Roses were so good we left with 3 bottles. Looking back, since they are already finished, I wish we got more! But they were very reasonably priced and tastings with the knowledgable staff really helped us figure out which ones we wanted to take back with us. You can shop them here too if you’d like to try for yourself. Another great thing about CrossKeys Vineyard was sharing the room with some of the local Wine Club Members. it was fun watching them do some blind tastings and just catching to them about our trip. Very friendly atmosphere and didn’t feel like we didn’t belong. So thank you for the welcoming arms and the great tasting. We will be back.
