Creating your own escape

What do you think of when you think of your cozy escape?

I think of a homey Tuscan vineyard, with lots of light, greenery and warmth. So, in leu of that I tried to recreate that in my bedroom; I would have loved to do it throughout the apartment but that may have been over kill.

WHAT NEXT:

So of course, like we all do, I went to Pinterest for some inspiration. From there the creative part of my mind went wild! Leaving me with no set plan other than getting the materials and taking it from there.  I found these great vines that were only $14 a pack and I ended up ordering 4. In addition I also bought 2 packs of string lights and a little more greenery for above my photo to center it all.

Next step:

Start to create my Tuscan escape by going with the flow, kind of like how vines grow. Here though is where I’d recommend doing some research in how you’d want to attach the faux vines to the walls… which I did not do. I also used nails, which I know will be a head ache to cover up when I finally decide to take them down. So, in retrospect I would recommend to look into wall adhesive or something from command strips. They usually have clear tabs for sting lights that work great.

What to keep in mind:

Be patient with the process. This took me over 2 hours to hang. If you know that will drive you crazy maybe get someone to help you and try and plan out your layout in advance. Also be aware of the string lights, that will take time to wrap through the vines. Mine got stuck a few times and pulled the vines down which resulted in me starting all over.

It was a project for sure but something I did enjoy and I look forward to doing more DIY projects in my apartment. It also made a great stamen wall for under $150 and now going to bed at night is a true escape!
