Have you struggled with the perfect cookie recipe to use a cookie cutter with? Not to worry we found the perfect one thanks to COOKILLU.
You may have been following along on our Instagram stories, but if not, I am not the baker in this duo. However, since mid-quarantine, I started watched Nailed it on Netflix and caught the baking bug. If you never watched it, I HIGHLY recommend. It’s a bunch of average bakers, which I categorize myself as, who compete for $10,000. But They are trying to replicate professionals works. Some are hilarious and some come out decent. Now here we are, me trying to bake and decorate.
A lot of good has come with this venture. I am learning what works and I’m finding good recipes. Which is what today’s blog post is all about. I’ll be sharing this amazing cookie recipe from COOKILLU, a simple decorating recipe & and some amazing cookie cutters. This is all thanks to my sister-in-law too. She bought me this custom cookie cutter of my dog Roo. So creating these were EXTRA fun!
Cookie Recipe:
Preheat oven to 356 °F (That is not a mistake either)
Ingredients to yield about 24 cookies
- 2/3 cups cold butter
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 full egg
- 1 egg YOLK
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Mix all the ingredients making sure there are no chunks of butter.
Once you have a fully mixed dough, chill in the fridge for at least an hour. You can chill for longer.
Once fully chilled, flour the table OR use parchment paper to start rolling out your dough. You’ll want it to be about 4 mm thick.
Start using your cookie cutter!
Bake for 10-13 minutes.
Cookie Painting Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 drops food dye
Mix in a small bowl (I used espresso cups)
Paint with a small paint brush
FUN FACT: This also added additional sweetness!
