New York Fashion Week might only last a few days, but a lot happens in those few days. This year was our first year going to NYFW and we had so much fun and learned a lot for next time.
Our day started out at 9am with SDSH Salon on the upper east side. We had so much fun here. Kelly got curly waves while Alex got a shag haircut and her hair blown out straight which we have not seen in a while. From there we immediately went outside and took pictures with Angel Morales Photography, ladies if you need a good photographer while you are in NY make sure to contact him.
Right after pictures we rushed to the Jill Stuart presentation. Getting down town took a lot longer than we had planned due to traffic and unfrotunately we ended up missing most of the show. We realized that we should have scheduled our hair earlier in order to make sure we made it all the way downtown on time!
After Jill Stuart we went to the ShopStyle event which was all the way back up town, we took the subway for this which was a lot quicker. There were so many fun things to do here. You could rent clothing, get your nails done, get your make up done and even have a sketch done of your face. One of our favorite things was the customized folder we got from GIGI New York.
Son Jung Wan
The next show was the Son Jung Wan show. This might have been our favorite show. Denim, furs and velvet were big trends that were featured, which mean all these things are sticking around for a little while. The show was inspired by the 80’s with exaggerated silhouettes and bold colors.
Mac Duggal
Next stop was a quick break for lunch/dinner (thank god we packed snacks in our bags) and then we went to the Mac Duggal show. We were so excited for this one because we were sent VIP passes in the mail and guaranteed a seat. When we got there we realized that about 400 other people got the same thing. This show was very unorganized, they had invited more people than the place could hold so they had to start turning people away. Luckily we got in but we had to stand. The show start about a half hour late because of everything being so unorganized, but besides that the dresses were gorgeous.
Julianna Bass
We finally ended our night at the Julianna Bass presentation. This collection made an impression on us as soon as we walked in the door. The collection consisted of graceful evening dresses and tailored pieces. There were so much that stuck out to us, it was such a great place to end our night.
We were supposed to go back into NYC on Sunday but we were so tired and it was snowing like crazy we decided not to. We got invited to other shows during the week but since we both work full time it was hard to make those, we were most upset about missing Club Monaco. Feel free to email us if you have any questions about fashion week or any tips if you are thinking about going. We will write a follow up blog post soon on how to get into the shows!
