Loving Yourself with Inner Beauty

Love yourself, be kind to yourself, and take care of yourself: These are words Inner Beauty products embody.

I LOVE MY LIPS    I LOVE MY EYES    I LOVE MY FACE

Simple is good, safe is great and most importantly, feeling confident and healthy is the top priority. So when we were introduced to Inner Beauty Cosmetics, we were so excited to hear they create simple to use, safe and clean products that you can feel good about using.

Many people don’t care to think about the effects a lot of personal care and beauty products have on their bodies, from makeup to body lotion—even sunscreen. We aren’t saying all of these items are “bad,” and we definitely believe in always wearing sunscreen, but so many of the items we use daily have toxic chemicals which, down the road, could have a harsh impact on us, inside and out. This is something we are aware of, and why we strive to find clean, safe products that we love using regularly.

But we’re not trying to fool anyone either, because we haven’t always been careful about what we put on our faces and bodies. Really, it started when both of us were affected by cancer. Almost 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and Kelly’s mom sadly passed from appendix cancer. We can’t draw a definitive correlation between our lifestyles and why we got cancer, but it did make us realize we aren’t invincible; we should be more careful with the products we use, and how we live our lives. (I’ll be putting out a special 5 year post in August, so stay tuned for that!)

We started to be more conscious, less vain and more grateful. I threw out pills that were supposed to suppress my appetite, and we both threw out a lot of our items that didn’t say non-toxic, phthalate-free and even paraben-free. These are labels I never looked for before my diagnosis, yet I was always conscious about buying sulfate-free shampoos to preserve my hair color (still my guilty pleasure!). Why was I not looking for safe items for the rest of my body? We challenge you to go through your cabinets and look, too—we bet after reading the ingredients in your products, you’ll get rid of a lot like we did.

Inner Beauty Cosmetics was founded off of this same idea: A much-needed lifestyle change that occurred after an eye-opening health diagnosis. Julie Rice, the founder of Inner Beauty, wanted to create natural, clean makeup products that are safe for everyone to use—even those going through cancer treatment or recovering from cancer, those with autoimmune disease or those who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. She takes pride in her products, and makes sure everything that goes into her products is safe and non-toxic.

After learning more about Inner Beauty Cosmetics, we couldn’t wait to try their products. We got something from each of their categories: face, eyes & lips.

Let’s start with the lips, because I (Alex) am obsessed with lips! I chose the Stay Calm Lip Balm + Primer & the Sheer Bliss Oil-Infused Lip Tint. Both felt magical on my lips and even better knowing they were safe, even if I lick my lips. I even layered them with the balm first and tint after and loved the look and feel. They felt so hydrating and looked very luxe! This is a 100% buy in my opinion and would even make great gifts!

I also experimented with the Light + Love Liquid Eye Shadow, which gave a great highlight to my lid and will be super versatile with my summer looks! To finish it off, I also got the Coco Balm Coconut-Infused Illuminating Creme Highlighter, which again felt great on my skin and looked amazing. Not to mention the compact size is great to carry with you during the day or traveling (when we can again) and has a mirror on the top!

After my battle with cancer, I did stop caring about trivial things and how I look all the time; I was bald for 6 months and if I put makeup on, I’d sweat it off because of the shots I has getting that put me in early menopause to try to protect my ovaries. With that said, now when I do apply any makeup, I like the natural look with neutral shades, and Inner Beauty delivered that for me. It’s also not heavy—and I do feel like it brings out an inner beauty within me. I am so happy to know there are people that care about others and want them to have the best for their bodies. It is so important to not abuse your body and reward it for living! We send out our prayers for anyone struggling and want to let them know they are not alone.

xoxo
