The Shine Project inspires and provides opportunities for inner city youth. They employ less fortunate students with jobs so they can pay their way through college and shine as the succeed.”
Have you heard of The Shine Project? If you haven’t let us introduce you. Ashley LeMieux is the founder of The Shine Project and the voice behind the blog that will inspire you. She started off small, raising money for a group of seniors to go to college. After giving out 7 scholarships she founded a non-profit organization called The Shine Scholarship Project. Several months later she realized she needed to do more so she created a for-profit organization where she could employ students and teach them important business and life skills.
Ashley taught herself to make bracelets and soon taught her students as well. In the first week they sold out completely. Since 2011 over 40 scholarships have been given out and Ashley now employs 11 students. She said “it’s not even about the money for me. It’s the fact that people actually believe that I am worth something, that I can do it, and that I have a great potential inside of me. That motivates me more than anything.”
We love our stacks we received from The Shine Project and we have gotten so many compliments on them, its great to look at this jewelry and know that it is helping someone and giving back. The first stack in the Moonstone Stack. The combination of these 4 bracelets creates the perfect arm candy and the colors really accent well with all of our summer outfits! The second stack is the Summer Loving Necklace Stack. These three necklaces really blend together well and the peace sign adds some retro flair to it. The best part about these stacks is some of these pieces are adjustable. Make sure to check out their website to learn more!
