2018 Fall New York Fashion Week Recap

Another New York Fashion Week down and we are very excited to share the highlights of the shows we attended. Click on todays post to read more!

The day started with a 7 AM wake up call from Kelly because I’m known to over sleep and I take for ever to get ready. After that came multiple picture messages of our outfit options. Then it’s me rushing to the train and telling Kelly I’ll meet her on what ever car she’s on. YUP, a frantic morning but worth it because when we go to amazing shows like we did this season it makes it all worth it.

The first show we attended for the day was Misha Kaura. At First Stage, her presentation featured eye catching fabrics with Asian influences and elegant silhouettes. Misha is a new designer but she is one to keep an eye out for as her brand grows because she has an eye for luxurious details and style. She is now on our radar and would love to attend more shows as she & her collection grows!

Off to the second show – Son Jung Wan, which was located at Spring Studios. This was a new location and it was chaos. We feel for the people that went there this fashion week and had multiple shows right after another. Why we say this? Well we had two shows back to back and in order to attend your next show was fusterating. You had to take the elevator back down, leave the building, get back in line in the rain & wait to get scanned in for the next show. Thank goodness Sons show and our next show were worth the hassle.

From the catwalk layout, natural lighting, the music and the looks; it was a great show to watch. Featuring bold fur pieces, intricate silhouettes with a mix of fabrics and a beautiful palette of colors, this collection came together and Fall looked very strong. This was our second show we attended for SJW and it’s a show that we are never disappointed with. We want to thank Son Jung Wan for the invite. Your designs are always compelling and we can’t wait to see what you have in store for Spring!

The day ended in the same location with Christian Cowan and WOW! The excitement that grew in the crowd as each piece came out was toxic – in a VERY good way. From sparkle head to toe, bold pops of color and outfits that actually lit up, we found ourselves saying we want that every time a new piece came out!

We learned that he and Stuart Weitzman teamed up; so all the shoes were part of their collaboration! It really made the looks come together too. Some of our favorite looks were: the neon green tracksuit, the ruby red sparkly trench coat dress with bright red patent leather shoes (also featured in vogue), the red fur coat with a light up LED heart, and the black and white checker dress with feathers and mismatching patent leather booties. Those may have been some of our favorites but the whole show was amazing and a great way to end our day on a high note. Christian, thank you for the invitation and we can’t wait for your next collection.

In-between shows if we have a long break we typically like to start walking towards the next show in hopes we’ll find nice spots for photos and we did! so we wanted to share some of those as well!
